The Discovery Center will be
the “heart” of our village.
The Discovery Center will be located at Chieftain Street and Fourth Avenue on land that is owned, and additional land that has been acquired, by the Village of Osceola specifically for this project. The building will combine the library and Village Hall—complete with its police, court and fire departments—to maximize construction dollars.
The 30,000-plus square-foot facility will expand and enhance learning opportunities and community interaction. It will help attract young families to the area, and to stay and raise their children in our community. Children will have more educational opportunities. Teens will have a much-needed safe place to gather after school. Seniors will have more resources and a space to gather. The business community will have access to meeting rooms with high-speed internet and technology for today’s economy.

The Osceola Library has one of the higher circulations in the 50-library service cooperative of which it is a part, yet it is stretched as a facility.
In a generation where social, educational, health and economic opportunities depend on access to the Internet, lack of access means lack of opportunity. The challenge we face as a community is how to address this disparity and equalize the educational and workforce playing field.
We have a unique opportunity to transform our library, community center and village hall and create a discovery center for all; to embrace an expanded role as an online information center; to serve as an innovation hub helping engage people.
The Fab Lab:
A Fab Lab provides an enhanced learning and creation environment for the public schools, area business, artists, and the community at-large of Osceola. The Fab Lab will reside in the Discovery Center, openly accessible to innovators, businesses and individuals of all ages.
